Abuela’s Living Room

This project explores the relationship between music, memory, and the ways in which sound can trigger feelings of nostalgia. Exhibition visitors are invited into my grandmother’s living room, where my own memories are stored and relived through the experience of salsa. The room and the objects within it are designed to encourage exploration, discovery, and a sense of play; coaxing the audience into a child-like state of mind.

Visitors are invited to reflect on the past and memories that may be triggered by music. Where does music transport you?
